3 things I get from this photo:
-The people in the photo are very relaxed and seem not to be that worried about what they are doing.
-You can tell that they are not worried because they are laughing and probably joking with each other
-People in the background are probably from bp since they are not the target of the photograph we don't know how they are feeling.

When I read the title of the article I was confused as to why the picture didn't match the title. I was expected by reading the title to see strict looking businessmen.

This article gives me confidence in our President. I feel like he could do more for our country by being out there and doing things rather than sitting in a press conference just answering questions.

 People Objects  Activities
President books and plants the books are just resting on one another maybe on a desk and the plants are on the sides of the photo. It looks like there is a brick wall in the background
President casual shirt the President is very casually dressed
Presidenthis facial expression looks stressed and upset. There are frown lines on the sides of his mouth and his forehead shows signs or worry
President you can tell that he is getting older because of the gray hair present in this picture

3 things from this picture
- The President looks worried and stressed.
- His ear is facing us giving it the effect that he is listening.
- The Presidents stressful job takes a toll on his health.
The caption looks like it would go with this photo. The President looks like he could possibly be listening and posed to answer questions that are presented to him.
People Objects  Activities
3 guys in the cabin binoculars  looking around them for maybe security reasons or for safety of the boat
2 guys one in green one in blue. green is laughing and walking like he is relaxed. dressed very casually/ blue is walking looking down, looks like he is walking more rigidly  and more dressed up than blue
Presidentwalking relaxed and smiling. casual attire
4 guys light green is talking casually dressed blue guy looks like a captain of the ship

Digital Story Telling Projects

For class we made digital stories. For my story, I made up a little saying about teaching and found some pictures to help illustrate the point I was making with my saying. The ISTE/NETS standards are all about integrating technology into classrooms to open student's eyes to technology and what it can do for them. Using digital stories goes along with these standards because when students use digital story telling, they are doing their own individual things so they are using their appropriate learning styles or learning how to work with other students to maybe complete a problem solving activity. Digital story telling is also a good way for teachers to lecture in some of their classes, or can be used in meetings or parent teacher conferences.

I thought up a lesson plan that would allow teachers to work with other teachers in different subject areas. A history teacher could assign a time period to a student. An English teacher could assign the student to find important literary works from this time period. The art teacher could assign the students to tell about the art history and some works from that time period. All the teachers shall allow the students to work on these stories in their class for a week or so.

Copyrights and wrongs..

-Students are allowed to use portions of copyrighted material in their multi media projects and upload them on YouTube if there is proper citation of their sources. They must also make a slide at the beginning of the presentation stating that their project has been created using copy righted materials that are not to be associated with the original source.
-Students can use 1000 words or less of copyrighted materials in their work, 250 if from poems. They can use 3 minutes if movies but are to not alter the clip in any way. No more than 30 seconds of a song shall be used.
-Students can use copyrighted materials in their educational practices as long as they correctly cite and credit all materials. It is advised to write and ask for permission for usages of copyrighted materials if they are to be used for purposes other than educational ones.

Digital Story Telling

Quote:
The important question for educators to ask is, "What does digital storytelling offer education?" The answer is a great deal if we do two things, focus on the story first and the digital medium later and use digital storytelling to enhance students skills in critical thinking, expository writing and media literacy."

Reaction:
As I was reading this quote, I got a few ideas for lesson plans and maybe some that you can combine with other teachers to make a lesson that follows into other classes. In an English or poetry class class, students can write a short story, or a poem. In art class, they can find or draw images to tell their story/poem or find pictures to illustrate their work. Finally, in a media or computer class, the students can put all their work together to make one of these stories. I believe these stories are awesome ways to mesh several different subjects together and make it fun for students :)

Learning Test Results

From taking the learnin test I discovered that I am a kinestic learner. The defination of is as follows:
Kinaesthetic learning is a learning style in which learning takes place by the student actually carrying out a physical activity, rather than listening to a lecture or merely watching a demonstration. It is also referred to as tactile learning. People with a kinesthetic learning style are also commonly known as do-ers. (Thank you  to wikipedia.)

After I did some more research on this I found out that I like working in labs, going on field trips, like trian and error things, like to visit exhibits and etc. All of these things are true! I have always learned new things faster if I have a story to remember them by or I can physically do them. The next piece of information I found is that I should convert my notes into smaller notes with real examples and stories in them because I would remember them better. This is true too!!

This is me.. if Picasso was still alive to make it :)

Wordle and Poll Everywhere

Wordle is a tool used to turn texts into a graph like picture. These words can be distorded and changed to match what the individual wasnts it to look like. In this class, we used wordle to make a picture out of the words that we thought defined a good teacher. The Poll Everywhere website lets people set up polls for their peers or just anyone to vote on. Poll everywhere was used as a way that we could get to know the other students in the class a little bit better.

In a classroom, Wordle can be used with any English or Lit class very easily. Students can be assigned to make one based on characters attrubitues/flaws in a literary piece. It can also be used in a creative writing or art class to maybe describe something. Poll Everywhere could be used in a science class or a media or a math class. Students cold be assigned to set up a poll and record their findings on a graph, or write a report about they found out.

These tools could be used to promote future learning in classrooms by showing students that they can turn their thoughts into creating projects, or can learn about people from everywhere using a public poll forum. Teachers can use the polls to learn more about what the students want to learn or what the feel they are lacking.

Text Language? WTF?

Quote:

"Yes, young people sometimes accidentally slip a btw (by the way) into a school essay. But a recent study by the Pew Internet and American Life Project confirms that middle school and high school students understand what kind of language is appropriate in what context (Lenhart, Smith, & Macgill, 2008)."

Reaction:

As a student who texts most of her day away and is writing papers/taking notes for the rest, I agree with this statement. Using text words and abrevs (see what I did there) saves time when I am outlining chapters or starting an outline to an assignment that requires me to write a paper. If I wrote down words with exact same spelling or didn't abbreviate certain words in my outline, I would be spending more time outlining than I would spend actually just writing the paper. I do not see a problem with this new digital language, everyone in some way shape or form is using it.
